A great find that I wasn't expecting.
Jul. 28th, 2025 11:25 amWe have a lot of books in our house. Books have many fine qualities but self-organization and self-dusting aren't among them. I came up with and executed a scheme of organization/less dusting for my books. When I was done, I had unsettled things a bit in house. There were newly created gaps in the living room bookcase, so my housemate decided to do a little reorganization too. Which resulted in multiple books stacks on the living room floor.
I was sitting on the sofa a few nights ago, looking at the stacks and thinking about how my reading has become a bit stilted and academic. I have beaten a lot of the fun out of it. I decided to pick up a random novel from whatever was nearest my feet and start reading it. This is the book I picked-

Picnic Day 2007
Apr. 1st, 2025 02:21 pmIt's been a bit rainy and overcast today and it got me thinking about other wet April days. Picnic Day is advertised as the largest collegiate open house in the country. The University opens up to show off to parents and prospective students and to entertain the town. The weather can be variable. Sometimes hot, sometimes chilly and sometimes amazingly perfect. These two pictures are from a year when it was wet and cold and nasty. But everyone was in good spirits, like the bad weather was an amusing challenge.
This boy was walking backwards and talking to me. He was fascinated by the underwater housing I had on my camera. I don't have that camera anymore. My husband lost it long ago. But I still have the plexiglass housing to remind to not spend so much money on another. I didn't use it nearly as much as I thought I would. A plastic bag and tape wouldn't have been as elegant but definitely a lot cheaper.
